Thanks to all of you for making the 2017 tuna fishing season another memorable and successful year at Scott Bruce Tuna Charters!
2017 is now in the past, but memories of being on the water tuna fishing for giants won’t soon be forgotten. From fulfilling “bucket lists” to introducing young fishing enthusiasts to what it’s like and what it takes to catch and fight a “Giant” bluefin tuna, it was a very rewarding year! It is with great pride we welcome returning guests to PEI, and this year was exceptional with lots of familiar faces.

What did surprise me though, is how healthy “sport fishing” is with the younger generation. This past year we were fortunate to have aboard Sabrina Barnes, Catherine Perrault, and the crew from Roadfish, all well seasoned fishers for their age. Giant bluefin tuna were something none of them had ever encountered, which gave us the great pleasure to introduce them to our premiere sport fishery. You can read about Sabrina and Catherine’s trip with us in the February edition of Sentier Chasse-Pêche.

This coming September you can catch our episode with Roadfish on TVA Sports and TVA Sports 2. Both fishing trips were over the top and I’m sure when you read the article and watch the show you will feel like you were right there fighting bluefin tuna with us! All this comes on the heels of our episode with Cyril Chauquet and his show Chasing Monsters, which aired in 2017 and is getting rave reviews.

In 2017, we caught our first fish on our second day out on July 23rd. We finished our season October 15th with a tuna we landed and kept for the season. Commercial tuna fishermen reported a nice amount of tuna, right off North Lake Harbour, well into November. In 2018, the season is set to open July 15th and we are offering tuna fishing charter days until November 1st.

On another note, we have added a much bigger rental house to accommodate our guests. With two queens, two twins, and a double sized bed, we can accommodate larger charters. Amenities include, full kitchen, living and dining room, large wood burning Island stone fireplace, barbecue, two baths, washer and dryer, two decks, a shuffleboard table and a fire pit. The house sits on a large lot overlooking the water, the town of Souris and Souris Harbour. We rent out to charters and vacationers alike. If you are in the Quebec City area March 15-18th, be sure to visit us at the 2018 Quebec City Outdoor, Hunting, Fishing and Camping Show being held at the Centre de Foires ExpoCité. We’ll be in booth 600 and look forward to talking tuna fishing with you!
We are booking now for the 2018 season and we look forward to hearing from you soon! Feel free to call or text us at 902-969-7059 or email us anytime at brucestunacharters@gmail.com.

Wishing you all the best in 2018, from our family to yours,
